G. R. BILODEAU

If This Is Spring

Floral intoxication mimics
the heart race of a shopping cart
loose in the lot with tight
black leggings on the chase.
Ancillary to the long wait,
a shred of creation
like jingly keys peeking
from a pocket of worn jeans.
I'll never wear jeans again.
Why suffer for fashion
when the greatest trends
can't be removed in the sun?
Partly to breathe, sure, but
mostly to live unrestrained.
If this is spring, I'll burn
my cards for gas money:
The grand scheme
speaks wonders
on the footprints of an ant

G. R. Bilodeau is from New Jersey. His work appears in HASH, As of Late, Anti-Heroin Chic, etc. He has published a chapbook entitled Notes from the Parking Lot of Lost Hopes and Dreams (Alien Buddha Press, 2024).
